Description of Main Duties:
Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Mission Support or his/her representatives, the incumbent shall carry out the following functions:
- Oversee the UNIOGBIS Gym and Lounge areas during official opening hours, coordinating activity with Gym-Lounge sub-committee, and technical personnel for ensuring maintenance, repair, and cleanliness of facilities.
- Interact with clients at the front desk and on the phone. Share information on the gym and ‘membership rates’ with new visitors and answer questions and manages check-in
and check-out procedures for existing members.
- Answer phone calls from client prospects or members seeking information about gym hours, available equipment and classes, and other items. Communicate and assist clients on the use of equipment.
- Attend to the needs of clients as they use equipment; help offer classes, set up rooms or floor areas as needed, for classes offer (eg. Yoga class, dancing class) etc.
- Directly responsible for ensuring that clients/visitors adhere to policies and procedures posted on boards, so as to protect the facility from property damage and liability.
- Assist in scheduling activities, eg. Fitness classes, organized games and array of other activities and communicating them to members and visitors as the need arises.
- Participate in record keeping, which includes support to Finance Section in managing member files and accounts, sending out membership renewal notices, and managing reservation logs if the center keeps scheduled appointment times for equipment or facility use.
- Maintain accurate and up to date inventory of all Lounge and Gym equipment, identifying maintenance and repair needs and following up with respective focal points.
- Serve refreshments and snacks from the Lounge Bar to authorized customers against agreed form of payment; maintain records of sales/turnover and stock, and identify stock replenishment needs.
- Ensure availability of first-aid kit and the ability to administer ‘basic first-aid’ in case of emergency.
- Provide inputs/suggestions to improve the functioning of the gym and lounge, and promptly report breakages/damage, breaches of conduct, and any other incident.
Qualifications and requirements:
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent, and/or graduation in Physical Education.
Experience:
At least one year’s recreation, physical fitness or customer service experience.
- Prior experience and knowledge in maintaining, handling and use of recreational and sports equipments.
- Knowledge of dismantling and/or setting up of various gym and sports equipments.
- First-aid training is required.
Language:
Fluent in oral and written English and/or French is required. Knowledge of Portuguese and Creole is an advantage.
Other Skills:
As this is a physical job, there are typically physical requirements that include the ability to set up equipments and lift at least 25 pounds.
Sociable/Responsive personality, love of fitness, knowledge of a fitness facility and physiology, and the ability to communicate well and teach others.
